Scotty McCreery Receives Gold Album Before Sold-Out Ryman Auditorium Performance
Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery returned to Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium last night, March 11. The sold-out performance marked his first concert appearance at the Mother Church of Country in over six years. Although a native of North Carolina, the evening was a special homecoming of sorts for the singer/songwriter who has seen major changes in his life both personally and professionally since his last show at the famous venue. Not only did he marry his high school sweetheart Gabi but he scored two back-to-back No. 1 hits with the Double Platinum-certified “Five More Minutes” and Platinum-certified “This Is It.” And the career milestones continued Wednesday evening for the country music hitmaker. Prior to taking the Ryman stage at a reception filled with journalists and industry executives, McCreery learned his album Seasons Change had been certified Gold by the RIAA for sales of more than 500,00 units.
“It’s always an honor to perform at the historic Ryman Auditorium,” said McCreery. “I’ve performed here several times on the Grand Ole Opry and have always loved it, but there’s something special about performing your own concert in this place. It’s been six years since I have done my own show here. To come back here now and once again sell it out is a moment I won’t forget.”
McCreery’s career-spanning set pulled from his extensive catalog of music including hits from his most recent album. The ACM and CMT Award winner co-wrote all 11 songs on the Gold-certified Seasons Change, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart upon release. His current single from the album, “In Between,” just entered the Top 20 on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart.
“I don’t know where to even begin to say how much Seasons Change means to me or how proud I am of this album. The success of this album changed my life,” said McCreery. “If you listen to all the lyrics, then you should have a strong idea of who I am. It’s that personal. The fact that the fans and country radio loved the music means everything to me. I want to thank Triple 8 Management and Triple Tigers Records for their belief in me and for working with me every step of the way. I want to thank my band and crew for all their hard work through the years. This is a team accomplishment and a true highlight of my career.”
“Scotty’s brand and great songs were the impetus for teaming up with Triple Tigers Records,” said Norbert Nix, GM/Partner, Triple Tigers Records. “Huge chart success and brilliant teamwork provided the opportunity for gold consumption. We are so proud to represent this great artist.”
Jackie Jones, RIAA Vice President of Artists and Industry Relations, Nashville, told the reception crowd that with the gold certification of Seasons Change, McCreery now exceeded 8 million career RIAA certifications for his albums and singles.
McCreery triumphantly took the Ryman stage after opening performances from Heather Morgan and Adam Doleac. The crowd responded in kind, often singing along loudly with both his hits and album tracks, while also frequently dancing in the aisles.
In addition to his hits, McCreery debuted two new songs that he recently recorded for his upcoming new album, “Fallin’ For a Stranger” and the emotional “Twice a Child,” which brought the audience to their feet, giving the singer a lengthy standing ovation. “I can’t think of a better place to give the audience a preview of the new album than on the stage of the Ryman,” said the entertainer, overwhelmed by the reaction of the crowd.
As always, McCreery performed a selection of classic country covers. Last night’s selections included “Hello Darlin’,” “Always and Forever, ““Folsom Prison Blues,” “Chattahoochie,” “SOLD (The Grundy County Auction Incident),” and “If Tomorrow Never Comes” to the delight of the crowd. Performing classic songs has always been a favorite part of the show for the young singer, but it took on even more significance for him to be able to sing them on the stage where his musical heroes once performed them.
To help his second home recover from the devastating tornados in the Nashville area last week, McCreery donated all profits from his merchandise sales at the Ryman to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee for its Emergency Response Fund.
After touring with Old Dominion at the end of last year and performing at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa event in Cancun, Mexico in January, McCreery joins Chris Young on the road this spring and summer for the “Town Ain’t Big Enough Tour,” beginning April 30 in Columbus Ohio. In May the multi-Platinum singer/songwriter will return for shows in England and will also perform for the first time in Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland due to strong fan demand.
McCreery recently released his first digital-only EP, The Soundcheck Sessions (listen here), which features acoustic renditions of his hits “Five More Minutes,” “This is It,” “In Between” and the fan-favorite “Still.” Check out the new acoustic video for ‘Five More Minutes” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?

SCOTTY McCREERY DEBUTS “FIVE MORE MINUTES (ACOUSTIC)” MUSIC VIDEO ON iHEARTCOUNTRY TODAY
“FIVE MORE MINUTES (ACOUSTIC)” TRACK FEATURED ON THE SOUNDCHECK SESSIONS, McCREERY’S FIRST DIGITAL-ONLY EP, AVAILABLE NOW
Due to Fan Demand, Bonus Track “Still (Acoustic)” Also Featured on The Soundcheck Sessions
Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery releases his first digital-only EP, The Soundcheck Sessions, today. The project features the just released track “Five More Minutes (Acoustic),” as well as previously released tracks “In Between (Acoustic)” and “This is It (Acoustic).” It also includes the bonus track “Still (Acoustic)” due to strong fan demand.” The Soundcheck Sessions was produced by Nathan Thomas, McCreery’s longtime bass player.
The music video for “Five More Minutes (Acoustic)” debuts exclusively today on iHeartCountry station sites and country.iheart.com at 9:00 AM (EST). The video was directed by Jeff Ray, who also directed the original “Five More Minutes” music video, which peaked at No. 1 on “The CMT Hot 20 Countdown.”
“It’s no secret that ‘Five More Minutes’ is my favorite song I’ve ever written,” said McCreery. “I announced that on Twitter that very day, and I’ve stated it frequently. That song was inspired by my grandfather and we wrote it two weeks after he passed away. It was fitting that it became my first No. 1 hit. I knew if I was doing a collection of acoustic performances that ‘Five More Minutes’ had to be included.”
Written by McCreery, Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell and produced by Rogers, the poignant “Five More Minutes” was the North Carolina native’s first No. 1 hit on both the Mediabase / Country Aircheck Country Singles Chart and the Billboard Country Airplay Chart and was just certified Double Platinum by the RIAA. It earned McCreery a BMI Award (his second of three) for writing One of BMI’s Top 50 Country Songs of the Year in 2018, the same year it was named One of the Top Ten Songs We Wish We’d Written by the professional membership of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI). The track was the first single from the ACM and CMT Award winner’s album Seasons Change, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart.
“Five More Minutes (Acoustic)” was filmed and recorded on the stage of the Cascade Theatre in Redding, Calif. on Sept. 26 along with “This is It (Acoustic)” and “In Between (Acoustic),” during the afternoon before the singer and his band performed at the venue. McCreery is accompanied by his guitarists/harmony vocalists Jeffrey Harper and Dylan Rosson on these three acoustic tracks.
“Still (Acoustic)” was recorded in McCreery’s Raleigh home, with Rosson performing guitar on the track. The North Carolina native recorded the acoustic version of “Still” for fans after receiving numerous requests for the song following the release of “In Between (Acoustic)” in November 2019. The song was written by McCreery and Aaron Eshuis.
“I usually play ‘Still’ alone with my guitar during my live show,” said McCreery. “It always goes over well and is one of my favorite songs to do live. I was thrilled to receive so many requests for an acoustic version and I’m glad we’re able to give the fans what they want.”
Earlier this week, McCreery performed in Cancun at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa on Jan. 22-23. He’ll be in concert at the Palace Theater in Louisville, Kentucky on Jan. 30 and the 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis, Indiana on Jan. 31. Recently it was announced that McCreery will join Chris Young on the “Town Ain’t Big Enough World Tour 2020” this spring and summer beginning in mid-May. In addition, his 2016 book Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream was just re-released in paperback earlier this month.

Scotty McCreery's "Five More Minutes" is Certified Double Platinum by RIAA
Scotty McCreery is kicking 2020 off with a bang! Just days before heading to Mexico for his first-ever appearance at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa, the country music hitmaker learned his signature hit, “Five More Minutes,” has been certified Double Platinum by the RIAA for sales of more than two million units. This is the singer/songwriter’s first Double Platinum certification.
“Five More Minutes” was McCreery’s first No.1 hit on both Mediabase/Country Aircheck Country Singles Chart and Billboard Country Airplay Chart. He wrote it with Frank Rogers (who also produced the song) and Monty Criswell, and it was the lead single from his No. 1 album Seasons Change.
“I have believed in this song since the day I wrote it with Frank and Monty, and I am thrilled that the fans have believed in it as well,” said McCreery. “This song was inspired by the passing of my grandfather, and I feel him with me every time I sing it. As I’ve said many times, it is my favorite song I’ve ever written. Thanks to Triple 8 Management, Triple Tigers Records and all my team for working so hard with me.”
McCreery debuted the song on the Grand Ole Opry during CMA Music Festival in June 2016. The live video of the performance on the Opry’s YouTube Channel reached millions of viewers and went on to earn the North Carolina native the Rare Country Award for Opry Moment of the Year in December 2016.
In 2017, “Five More Minutes” became the first country song in history to chart in the Top 50 of the Mediabase / Country Aircheck Country Singles chart without being released by a record label. McCreery signed with Triple Tigers Records soon after and the label expertly guided the song to No.1 in February 2018. That same year “Five More Minutes” earned McCreery a BMI Award for writing One of BMI’s Top 50 Country Songs of the Year and it was named One of the Top Ten Songs We Wish We’d Written by the professional membership of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).
The acclaimed music video for “Five More Minutes,” directed by Jeff Ray, featured rare footage of McCreery growing up with family and friends. It went on to peak at No. 1 on both the CMT Hot 20 Countdown and the GAC Top 20 Countdown and to date has received almost 100 million views on YouTube.
