Scotty McCreery is thrilled by his double nomination at 2012 Teen Choice Awards. The winner of "American Idol" season 10 says in a statement, "I am so grateful for all of my teen fans. Since I'm still a teenager myself, their support has meant everything to me over the last year."

Hot on heels of the TCAs nods announcement, McCreery is confirmed to return to "Idol" stage on its two-night finale. On May 22, he will sing "Please Remember Me", a Tim McGraw song he re-recorded as this season's farewell anthem. On May 23, he will be back to help celebrate the winner of season 11.

"I am so excited about going back to American Idol and seeing everyone again," he says. "I hope to spend some time with the finalists, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez, and share some of my experiences with them. I can't believe that it's been a year since I was in their shoes."

In addition to having McCreery, the "Idol" finale will feature Rihanna and Aerosmith. The Bajan singer is scheduled to perform her latest single "Where Have You Been", while the Steven Tyler band are expected to debut a brand new song.

2012 Teen Choice Awards itself will air live on Sunday, July 22. McCreery is up against Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Hunter Hayes and Blake Shelton in Choice Male Country Artist. He's also vying for Choice TV: Male Reality Star along with DJ Pauly D, Rob Dyrdek, William Levy and The Situation.

Fans between the ages of 13-19 can vote for him beginning Friday, May 18 by visiting the Teen Choice Awards official site.

Congratulations to Scotty on his CMT Nomination for the USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year for The Trouble With Girls.   The video was filmed in Garner, NC last fall at the high school that Scotty attends.

The 2012 CMT Music Awards mark the 11th anniversary of the show and will air live from Nashville on June 6 on CMT and CMT.com.

Fans can vote now through June 4 to determine the winners -- online at CMT.com, on their mobile device at CMT Mobile or the CMT Insider app available on iPhone, iPad and Android.

The five nominees for video of the year will be announced at the beginning of the live show and fans can then vote at CMT.com, CMT mobile, on the CMT Insider app and via text message throughout the live telecast (ET/CT only) to determine the night's big winner.

Scotty McCreery is paying tribute to a teacher that had a big impact on his life in the new “Behind Every Famous Person Is a Fabulous Teacher” campaign.  Scotty has selected his Garner High School baseball coach and teacher Derik Goffena for the honor for encouraging him to beat the odds.

His teacher says Scotty has developed the ability to maintain humility and stay driven despite winning American Idol and becoming a platinum-selling country star in the past year.  One of the most important lessons Scotty has picked up from his favorite teacher is that “nothing worth having comes easily.”

Crowds are a bit larger at Garner High baseball games whenever Scotty McCreery pitches for the Trojans. And McCreery is glad to be on the field, making up for lost time after last year’s “American Idol” run.

“It's definitely special. I didn't know if I'd make it back this season and I'm glad I got the chance to," he said.

Still, after a year away, McCreery didn’t know what to expect on the mound. He was never a star pitcher and just wanted to contribute.

“I'm glad things are starting to click after being out, but I threw a lot of bullpens and at practice and I think I'm starting to throw the ball like I wanted to,” he said.

Is he ever. McCreery has been spectacular. In 26 innings, he has given up just three earned runs. That’s an earned run average of 0.82 to go along with 36 strikeouts.

No wonder fans come to watch.

"Oh, it's cool,” McCreery said. “It's good for the high school and us, a good crowd. It's fun playing for people."

McCreery is used to playing for people. And that begs the question – if singing doesn’t work out, is baseball a backup plan?

“I'm going to keep on singing,” he said. “Baseball is fun but it's just a hobby. Music's my passion, so I'm looking forward to getting back on stage."

Still, he has enjoyed his time this spring commanding a different stage – the pitcher’s mound.

In one year, Scotty McCreery went from country-music-listening high school ballplayer to reigning "America Idol" touring with Brad Paisley. But the 18-year-old still feels at home on the mound, so after missing the 2011 season, he returned to Garnet Magnet High School in North Carolina for earn back a pitching spot for his senior year. And he’s off to a stolid start, with 1.56 ERA and 13 strikeouts in nine innings through April 17. The country crooner slash curveball ace gave Playbook a glimpse of his new life.

What’s a typical day these days?

If I’m touring with Brad, I’ll be home Sunday, go to school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, then I hit the road Thursday through the weekend. But if I’m home like I am now, I just go to school and live like a normal kid. Except maybe I do an interview like this.
