Due to Fan Demand, Bonus Track “Still (Acoustic)” Also Featured on The Soundcheck Sessions
Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery releases his first digital-only EP, The Soundcheck Sessions, today. The project features the just released track “Five More Minutes (Acoustic),” as well as previously released tracks “In Between (Acoustic)” and “This is It (Acoustic).” It also includes the bonus track “Still (Acoustic)” due to strong fan demand.” The Soundcheck Sessions was produced by Nathan Thomas, McCreery’s longtime bass player.
The music video for “Five More Minutes (Acoustic)” debuts exclusively today on iHeartCountry station sites and country.iheart.com at 9:00 AM (EST). The video was directed by Jeff Ray, who also directed the original “Five More Minutes” music video, which peaked at No. 1 on “The CMT Hot 20 Countdown.”
“It’s no secret that ‘Five More Minutes’ is my favorite song I’ve ever written,” said McCreery. “I announced that on Twitter that very day, and I’ve stated it frequently. That song was inspired by my grandfather and we wrote it two weeks after he passed away. It was fitting that it became my first No. 1 hit. I knew if I was doing a collection of acoustic performances that ‘Five More Minutes’ had to be included.”
Written by McCreery, Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell and produced by Rogers, the poignant “Five More Minutes” was the North Carolina native’s first No. 1 hit on both the Mediabase / Country Aircheck Country Singles Chart and the Billboard Country Airplay Chart and was just certified Double Platinum by the RIAA. It earned McCreery a BMI Award (his second of three) for writing One of BMI’s Top 50 Country Songs of the Year in 2018, the same year it was named One of the Top Ten Songs We Wish We’d Written by the professional membership of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI). The track was the first single from the ACM and CMT Award winner’s album Seasons Change, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart.
“Five More Minutes (Acoustic)” was filmed and recorded on the stage of the Cascade Theatre in Redding, Calif. on Sept. 26 along with “This is It (Acoustic)” and “In Between (Acoustic),” during the afternoon before the singer and his band performed at the venue. McCreery is accompanied by his guitarists/harmony vocalists Jeffrey Harper and Dylan Rosson on these three acoustic tracks.
“Still (Acoustic)” was recorded in McCreery’s Raleigh home, with Rosson performing guitar on the track. The North Carolina native recorded the acoustic version of “Still” for fans after receiving numerous requests for the song following the release of “In Between (Acoustic)” in November 2019. The song was written by McCreery and Aaron Eshuis.
“I usually play ‘Still’ alone with my guitar during my live show,” said McCreery. “It always goes over well and is one of my favorite songs to do live. I was thrilled to receive so many requests for an acoustic version and I’m glad we’re able to give the fans what they want.”
Earlier this week, McCreery performed in Cancun at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa on Jan. 22-23. He’ll be in concert at the Palace Theater in Louisville, Kentucky on Jan. 30 and the 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis, Indiana on Jan. 31. Recently it was announced that McCreery will join Chris Young on the “Town Ain’t Big Enough World Tour 2020” this spring and summer beginning in mid-May. In addition, his 2016 book Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream was just re-released in paperback earlier this month.

Scotty McCreery's "Five More Minutes" is Certified Double Platinum by RIAA
Scotty McCreery is kicking 2020 off with a bang! Just days before heading to Mexico for his first-ever appearance at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa, the country music hitmaker learned his signature hit, “Five More Minutes,” has been certified Double Platinum by the RIAA for sales of more than two million units. This is the singer/songwriter’s first Double Platinum certification.
“Five More Minutes” was McCreery’s first No.1 hit on both Mediabase/Country Aircheck Country Singles Chart and Billboard Country Airplay Chart. He wrote it with Frank Rogers (who also produced the song) and Monty Criswell, and it was the lead single from his No. 1 album Seasons Change.
“I have believed in this song since the day I wrote it with Frank and Monty, and I am thrilled that the fans have believed in it as well,” said McCreery. “This song was inspired by the passing of my grandfather, and I feel him with me every time I sing it. As I’ve said many times, it is my favorite song I’ve ever written. Thanks to Triple 8 Management, Triple Tigers Records and all my team for working so hard with me.”
McCreery debuted the song on the Grand Ole Opry during CMA Music Festival in June 2016. The live video of the performance on the Opry’s YouTube Channel reached millions of viewers and went on to earn the North Carolina native the Rare Country Award for Opry Moment of the Year in December 2016.
In 2017, “Five More Minutes” became the first country song in history to chart in the Top 50 of the Mediabase / Country Aircheck Country Singles chart without being released by a record label. McCreery signed with Triple Tigers Records soon after and the label expertly guided the song to No.1 in February 2018. That same year “Five More Minutes” earned McCreery a BMI Award for writing One of BMI’s Top 50 Country Songs of the Year and it was named One of the Top Ten Songs We Wish We’d Written by the professional membership of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).
The acclaimed music video for “Five More Minutes,” directed by Jeff Ray, featured rare footage of McCreery growing up with family and friends. It went on to peak at No. 1 on both the CMT Hot 20 Countdown and the GAC Top 20 Countdown and to date has received almost 100 million views on YouTube.

SCOTTY McCREERY KICKS OFF THE NEW YEAR WITH PAPERBACK RE-RELEASE OF HIS BOOK (GO BIG OR GO HOME: THE JOURNEY TOWARD THE DREAM) AND RUNNING THE 13.1 MILE WALT DISNEY RESORT HALF-MARATHON WITH WIFE GABI
Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream, Scotty McCreery’s debut book from 2016, was re-released in paperback earlier this week on January 7. McCreery, who co-authored the book with writer Travis Thrasher, views the project as a travelogue through events in his life instead of a full memoir. “I wrote this book when I was 22 years old. I thought I was too young to write an autobiography, but at the same time, I had already experienced some pretty amazing adventures in life, television and the music business and had learned some key life lessons. So I structured the book more like a conversation about my journey thus far, sharing some behind the scenes details, and revealing what I had learned.” Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream can be found wherever books are sold, including Amazon (https://amzn.to/2FEJuAN), Barnes and Noble (https://bit.ly/39ZLdyz) and more.
During the early hours of Saturday, January 11, McCreery and his wife Gabi ran in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in Orlando, Florida. The couple, dressed in t-shirts representing Buzz Lightyear and Forky, characters from the animated movie “Toy Story 4,” received their Finisher Medals after completing the entire 13.1 miles of the event which ran through the Walt Disney World Resort. “Being in this half marathon was something that Gabi and I decided to do several months ago when we were setting goals for 2020,” said McCreery. “We are both huge Disney fans, especially Gabi. This seemed like the perfect half marathon for us to do together.”
The Triple Tigers recording artist is currently in the Top 25-and-rising on both the Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck country charts with his single “In Between” from his No. 1 album Seasons Change. He wrote the song with Frank Rogers, Jessi Alexander, and Jonathan Singleton. McCreery returns to the road this week on January 17 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin at the Crystal Grand Music Theater and January 18 in Washington, Illinois at the Caterpillar Performing Arts Center. He’ll travel to Cancun to perform at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa on January 22-23.
McCREERY PERFORMS HALFTIME SHOW AT LIBERTY BOWL AND RECEIVES OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery performed during the halftime show of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis on New Year’s Eve (12/31/19), portions of which were aired live on ESPN. Several St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital patients joined him on stage, while an assortment of high school marching bands, the Lucid Dance Company, and the Liberty Bowl pageant queens participated in the performance on the field.
The night before (12/30) at the President’s Gala, he received the AutoZone Liberty Bowl Outstanding Achievement Award for his many services to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A strong supporter of St. Jude, McCreery donated both the $25,000 he won on “Celebrity Family Feud” in 2018 and $25,000 from a Bumble social media promotion in 2019 to the organization. He sang on the Disney Radio multi-artist version of “Angels Among Us” in 2017, where proceeds were donated to St. Jude. He has also participated in the organization’s “This Shirt Saves Lives” campaigns for several years.
“Both my wife Gabi and I have visited St. Jude and have seen first hand the amazing work that goes on there,” said McCreery. “I’m always glad to help St. Jude and spread the word about what they do.”
McCreery returns to the road on January 17 in Wisconsin Dells, WI at the Crystal Grand Music Theater. He will perform at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa event in Cancun on January 22-23.
