Chart-topping Country superstar Scotty McCreery has released his first-ever EP, Scooter & Friends, out today. The five-song soundtrack to summer includes tracks with Country hitmaker Lee Brice and R&B legend Charlie Wilson, as well as pop/rock icons Hootie & The Blowfish who join McCreery on the fan favorite track, “Bottle Rockets.”
“Bottle Rockets” is the fastest rising single of the North Carolina native’s career and is currently in the Top 15 on both the Billboard and Mediabase Country Airplay charts after only nine weeks of release. The song is delivering more than 5 million streams globally each week, ranking at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and at No. 62 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.
Scooter & Friends also features two solo McCreery tunes: “Swim Up Bar,” an ode to getting away to Mexico to leave your cares behind, as well as the aptly named “Holding Down the Honky Tonk.” On this project, McCreery explores sounds fans may not typically hear from the multi-Platinum hitmaker. Scooter & Friends was produced by Frank Rogers.
“I had a lot of fun creating this EP and performing some songs that are different from my normal sound, yet are still me,” said McCreery. “Getting to record with Hootie & the Blowfish, Lee Brice, and my hero Charlie Wilson on songs that I co-wrote with some of my favorite songwriters has been a blast.”

Statement from Scotty
My heart is absolutely broken. Yesterday, both my Grandma Janet and my Grandma Paquita passed away. I think I am still in a bit of shock as I type this, but I’m choosing to remember the great memories we all made with both of them. There really are too many to count. From being on the farm in Elizabeth City or visiting the Outer Banks with Grandma Janet.. And then the incredible memories we made at the backyard pool in Pinehurst, all the way to visiting Puerto Rico with Grandma Paquita. Both of them truly taught me what love is all about. I will miss them dearly. If y’all could keep my family in your prayers I’d appreciate it.

In his latest release off Scooter & Friends, “Once Upon a Bottle of Wine,” out now - McCreery shows off his artistic versatility alongside Charlie Wilson for an unexpected sound that many fans haven’t heard from the ACM Award winner. Written by McCreery, Brent Anderson, Derek George, Jeremy Bussey, and Frank Rogers, the song was a dream come true for McCreery who has long admired Wilson.
“I have been a massive fan of Charlie Wilson since I first heard him on the radio when I was a kid. He’s one of my favorite artists of all time,” said McCreery. “Getting to perform with him on stage a few years ago was a bucket list item for me. Being able to call him a friend means more than I can say. And now, having him sing with me on a song I wrote is a dream come true.”
Wilson shared “My ‘Charlie Last Name Wilson’ song was one of his favorites when he was growing up and I never knew he was a fan, so when we finally met years ago I was blown away with that huge voice and had him jump on stage with me. He brought the house down that night and now I’m so excited that we have a duet together.”

Prime Country with Scotty McCreery will see singer highlighting his favorite country hits and deep cuts from the 1980s and 1990s.
Scotty McCreery has posted five Billboard Country Airplay chart-toppers during his career, including a streak of signature hits such as “Damn Strait” and “In Between.” But now, he’s gearing up to shine a spotlight on many of the hits, and album cuts, that have inspired him.
On Thursday (June 26), McCreery was announced as the host of a new monthly show on SiriusXM’s Prime Country (Channel 58), which highlights country music of the 1980s and 1990s. Prime Country With Scotty McCreery will premiere Saturday, July 5 at 3 p.m. ET, with new episodes premiering the first Saturday of every month at 3 p.m. ET on Prime Country. Each show will also be rebroadcast on the channel several times throughout the month.
“I love country music from every decade, but the country music of the ’80s and ’90s is probably my favorite era of music. I’m excited to put a spotlight on the songs and performers I grew up listening to that helped shape the artist I am today,” McCreery tells Billboard in a statement.
He notes that the debut episode will feature music from artists including Garth Brooks, George Strait, Randy Travis, Kathy Mattea, Patty Loveless, Keith Whitley, Ronnie Milsap and John Anderson.
“Each song is handpicked by me,” he says. “I’ll be sharing stories of how an artist influenced me or how I met them or something we may have experienced together on the road or backstage at an awards show or the Opry.”
Even when McCreery made his career debut on American Idol (he won the talent competition’s 10th season), his allegiance to ’80s and ’90s country music was clear in his performances of songs such as Travis Tritt’s “Can I Trust You With My Heart” and Strait’s “I Cross My Heart.” His three-week Country Airplay No. 1 hit “Damn Strait” also nods to the Country Music Hall of Famer.
McCreery was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in April 2024, when he was ushered into Opry membership by fellow country music hitmaker Josh Turner. McCreery is using his new show to highlight his passion for the Grand Ole Opry and its essential contributions to country music’s history and present-day global influence.
“Every month I’ll also be sharing a live Opry performance that was recorded on that legendary stage during the ‘80s or ‘90s. My first episode will feature Joe Diffie performing ‘Pick Up Man’ on the Opry stage from Oct. 18, 1997,” McCreery previews.
Of course, McCreery fans can also hear a few songs from McCreery himself. “You’ll also hear one or two of my songs on the show because – hey! It’s my show! I’m hoping in the future to occasionally have guest artists join me for some conversation as well. I’m really pumped to be able to do this and I appreciate SiriusXM offering me this opportunity. I hope people tune in and enjoy it!”
