SCOTTY McCREERY SCORES THREE RIAA-CERTIFIED PLATINUM SINGLES

Blue Jean ShirtCountry music star and Scotty McCreery recently picked up three RIAA Platinum certifications with hit songs - “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls” off his Mercury Nashville / 19 / Interscope Records No. 1 debuting first studio album Clear As Day, and “See You Tonight,” the Top 10 lead single off his second consecutive No. 1 album, See You Tonight.

Written by McCreery, Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell, “See You Tonight” marks the first Platinum-selling single for McCreery as a writer in addition to being the artist, making it particularly special. “I Love You This Big,” written by Ronnie Jackson, Brett James, Ester Dean and Jay Smith, was McCreery’s country radio debut and first Top 15 single.  “The Trouble with Girls” was written by Phillip White and Chris Tompkins, and remains a huge crowd favorite on McCreery tour dates.

Since his 2011 debut, McCreery has sold more than 2 million albums. He continues to cross the country headlining his See You Tonight Tour through the end of the year, and McCreery’s latest single, “Feelin’ It,” is currently climbing country radio’s Top 15.

SCOTTY McCREERY POSTS VETERAN TRIBUTE VIDEO ON FACEBOOK AND YOUTUBE IN TIME FOR VETERANS DAY

Mercury Nashville / 19 / Interscope Records artist Scotty McCreery is a strong supporter of the men and women serving in the U.S. Military, paying tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice with his song “The Dash” (written by Kyle Jacobs and Preston Brust) on his current album, See You Tonight. McCreery performs this fan-favorite song every night in concert, accompanied by a poignant video created by Josh Carter that highlights the life of U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Andrew Carpenter. In honor of Veterans Day, McCreery has posted the video at his official Facebook page and YouTube site so that his fans can take a moment to remember the men and women who serve.

Carpenter, a native of Columbia, Tenn., was serving his second tour of duty in Afghanistan when he came under enemy fire and was fatally wounded on Valentine’s Day 2011. He passed away five days later, leaving behind his wife Chrissie who was pregnant with their first child, Landon. The town of Columbia later named a highway in honor of Carpenter and his service. Chrissie is the cousin of McCreery’s bass player, Nathan Thomas, who told the young singer about Carpenter’s life and sacrifice.

“My family and I have always been thankful for the men and women who protect us and lay down their lives to keep all Americans free,” said McCreery. “When Nathan told me the story about his cousin’s husband, I knew it was a very personal way to connect our audiences to the song ‘The Dash.’ On this day when we honor our military veterans, I could think of no better way to show my respect than to make sure my fans have a chance to know Andrew and his story. R.I.P. Andrew – there is no way I can truly thank you for your sacrifice, but I can make sure you are never forgotten.”

McCreery is currently touring in support of his sophomore album, See You Tonight, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums charts and features both his Gold-certified, Top 10 hit “See You Tonight” and his current Top 15 and climbing single, “Feelin’ It.” His record-breaking, Platinum-certified first album, Clear As Day, debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts, making him the first country artist, as well as the youngest artist, to do so with their debut studio album. Clear As Day, which features fan-favorite songs such as “Trouble with Girls,” “Water Tower Town” and “I Love You This Big,” reached No. 1 on five separate Billboard charts – Billboard Top 200, Top Current Albums, Digital Albums, Internet Albums and Top Country Albums. McCreery, who won the tenth season of "American Idol" in 2011, has sold more than two million albums, won the ACM New Artist of the Year Award in 2011 and was named the Artist of the Year: Breakthrough Artist at the 2013 American Country Awards. The 21st Birthday Gift That Keeps on Giving

12.14 The Gift That Keeps Giving:  Casino gift card? Application to adopt a child? While those might be appropriate (or weird) gifts to give Scotty McCreery for his 21st birthday, what he really wants is his fans to make a donation to the 12.14 Foundation. McCreery serves as a National Goodwill Ambassador for the foundation, which plans to build a multi-purpose performing arts and education center of historical significance in Newtown, CT. Since the 2012 shooting tragedy, McCreery has made several visits to meet with the families. "I would like to encourage the fans to donate to the 12.14 Foundation," said McCreery. "Together we can support a great organization doing positive things in a town that is still recovering. Let's help them reach their goal of building a state-of-the art performing arts and education center. That would be the best birthday gift I could receive." Scotty McCreery Takes ALS Ice Bucket Challenge ‘In a Very Big Way’

Courtesy - TasteofCountry.com

Scotty McCreery has accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge “in a big way.” He didn’t just take an ice bucket challenge, he took the “F-150 edition,” as he calls it.

The country singer decided to put his own spin on the viral task, which brings awareness to the disease, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The North Carolina native filled up the truck bed of his Ford F-150 and sat beneath it. McCreery was nominated by John Luke Robertson and others, including “various other fans.”

“I have accepted your challenge in a very … big way,” he says, pointing at the tarp-lined truck bed. Before allowing the truck to dump 23 bags of ice and water on him, he challenged a few people himself. Josh Turner was one of the lucky ones to be called out during the video. McCreery also nominated his drummer, Joey Sanchez, “who has been challenged, but has not done it yet.”

“You all have 24 hours after this F-150 edition of this ALS ice bucket challenge,” he says with a grin. His friend then opens the truck bed, allowing the water to rush over the singer, ensuring the tarp was fully dry and McCreery got every last drop. The singer gasps for air a couple of times, clearly breathless from the cold. He has a laugh before reminding his nominees, “you got 24 hours.”
